M4A
MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a)
MPEG-4 Part 14 or MP4 is a digital multimedia container format most commonly used to store video and audio, but it can also be used to store other data such as subtitles and still images. Audio-only MPEG-4 files generally have a .m4a extension. The M4A audio file contains a stream in AAC or ALAC format and can be renamed to .mp4. M4A files can contain metadata defined by the standard, such as file creation time, duration, language code of the stream, album name, the legal status of the work, etc.
WAV
Waveform Audio File Format (.wav .wave)
WAV is an audio file format standard, developed by IBM and Microsoft, for storing an audio bitstream on PCs. Though a WAV file can contain compressed audio, the most common WAV audio format is uncompressed audio in the linear pulse code modulation (LPCM) format. WAV files may contain audio recordings with different sampling rates and bitrates but are often saved in a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, stereo format.
